The Board is charged with providing a quality educational program for students in grades transitional kindergarten through 12 in accordance with the California Constitution, the laws of the State, and adopted Board policies.

Two student board members, one each from Rancho Çotate High School and Technology High School, serve one-two year term as student representatives.

Board members may participate in the health and welfare benefits program provided for district employees.

Health and welfare benefits for Board members shall be no greater than that received by district's non-safety employees with the most generous schedule of benefits. (Government Code 53208.5)
