California has implemented Universal Free meals at school.

Breakfast and lunch are available to all students free of charge, no application is required.

However, for funding purposes, all families that have not been Direct Certified - CalFresh, CalWorks, homeless, migrant, runaway and foster youth - (and have received a letter from the District since July 1) are encouraged to complete the Education Benefit Form in your student's online Annual/Enrollment Packet.

FOOD STANDARDS

  • We work hard to ensure that we are serving high quality, fresh and healthy foods to our students. To achieve this, we uphold strict food standards and openly disclose them to parents, teachers, and students.
  • Every breakfast and lunch is served with fresh fruit and vegetables.
  • Our milk is rbst and hormone-free and our meats are hormone and antibiotic free.
  • Our food is prepared daily, we do not serve fried, overly processed, or microwaved food.
  • We do not sell or serve any food item that as part of the manufacturing process has in any way been deep fried, par fried, or flash fried.
  • We use Whole Grain Products whenever possible.
  • Good Nutrition and Learning Go Hand in Hand

Foods and beverages sold or served at school meet the nutrition recommendations of the U.S. Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

The Food Services department is made up of a team of professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.

SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS ACCOMMODATIONS

A student with Special Dietary Needs must have a current Medical Statement to Request Special Meals and/or Accommodations on file in the Food Service Office (FSO). No substitutions may be made to any menu item without a Medical Statement to Request Special Meals and/or Accommodations. This form requires the signature of a State Licensed Healthcare Professional (licensed physicians, physician assistants, or nurse practitioners). A copy of this form is available on the CRPUSD website.

Parents/guardians may request a fluid milk substitution. Food Services offers soy milk that meets the USDA nutrition requirements for Fluid Milk Substitutions (7CFR 215.7a). If the student cannot tolerate soy milk and requests a different substitution, the district shall provide a substitution that may not meet the USDA nutrition requirements. Therefore, the parent/guardian shall submit a completed Medical Statement to Request Special Meals and/or Accommodations with the type of milk substitute listed.

Notes:
Accommodations of any non-life threatening food intolerance will be done on a case by case basis.

No accommodations are made because of personal belief/religion.

Allergen information is available on the District website/NutriSlice menus. Families needing additional food ingredient information should contact the Food Service Office.
